This volume, of which the letterpress and illustrations appeared originally in the Egypt Number of The Times, published on January 26, 1937, to celebrate the conclusion of the Anglo-EgyptianTreaty, contains a full summary of thattreaty and an engrossing survey of Egypt past and present in chapters contributed by experts in their several subjects. There are messages from King Farouk of Egypt and Mustapha Pasha Nahas, his Prime Minister, and from Mr. Anthony Eden, the British Foreign Secretary. The book thus embodies a succinct record of an event of outstanding international importance and an account of the history, resources and people of one of the most fascinating countries in the world. |
